Exquisite Corpse: Surrealism and the Black Dahlia Murder by Mark Nelson and Sarah Hudson Bayliss

Before reading this book, anything I knew about the Black Dahlia murder was framed by the noir vision of James Ellroy. Not an entirely bad thing, but, sometimes, it's like, enough of the tough guy L.A. thing already. This book does what it can to connect the Black Dahlia Murder with the surrealism movement in art. I guess one of the main suspects for the murder was friends with Man Ray. So, not an entirely crackpot premise. The book makes its point by mixing images, both well known and not so much, of surrealist art with pictures of or by the suspect and the crime scene. Good book, this one.
