Krautrocksampler 50 Friday - No. 30 - Harmonia - Musik Von Harmonia
File this in the records I won't listen to again category. Ambient electronic noodling. I am tying to understand why so many of these records got any run at all in the first place.

A Farewell to Arms - Ernest Hemingway
I re-read "A Farewell to Arms" in celebration of Ernest Hemingways' birthday. The version I read had this cover and was garbage-picked from a nicer house in my neighborhood. A previous reader annotated the book with underlining and insights such as "death" and "guilt." I enjoyed reading "A Farewell to Arms" more this time around than I did at age 16 but it was not a better book. Does that make sense?
Here I am on the front porch of the house where Hemingway was born in Oak Park, IL a few days ago. Old timey effect added by my wife. It's an old house, you know.

Bill Fox at Now That's Class
It was my mom's birthday and we spent the day at my parents' trailer on the Lake. We rushed home to see Bill Fox play a late afternoon show. We took the kids. We waited an hour for Bill to get going. The kids played free pinball. We asked them to stop when Bill started playing. That's when my daughter freaked out. She had to be removed from the bar and Winking Lizard was ruined for everybody. I teared up while Bill was playing.

Krautrocksampler 50 Friday - No. 27 - Faust - Faust IV
I listened to the 2XCD reissue of this record, which featured two versions of the song "Krautrock" - the highlight of the set, although it could have used some drums. I found myself thinking, while listening to this record, damn, I wish it rocked harder. "The Sad Skinhead." Funny title, but I don't get it. The ambient "Piano Piece" was nice.

Pink Floyd - July 1, 1971
Pink Floyd
Internationale Musikforum Ossiachersee
Congress Center Villach, Stiftshoff
Ossiach, Austria
July 1, 1971
Echoes
Careful With That Axe, Eugene
Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun
Atom Heart Mother
Starts off with "Return . . ." and "Careful . . . " and the the crowd seems really pumped when Pink Floyd announces "Set the Controls . . .," rewarding the crowd for their patience. "Atom Heart Mother" is an orchestra and chorus verson and the crowd is jacked when it is over. Lots of crowd noise and tuning on this boot. Another good one.
