A couple of things that I am trying to confirm: One, the book says that Gil Scott-Heron and his college band, the Black and Blues, played the Smiling Dog Saloon in Cleveland in the early 1970's. I've done pretty extensive research on the Smiling Dog Saloon and cannot confirm this gig from the listings in the Plain Dealer. Also, I saw Gil Scott-Heron in 1993 or 1994 at a club on the east side of Cleveland that I have never been to before or since. I wish I knew what the club was called and the exact date.
